Instructional design is about creating instructional materials that will result in the acquisition and application of knowledge and skills. Instructional design carefully considers how students learn and what resources will most effectively help achieve their academic goals (“What is instructional design”, n.d.). The principles of instructional design consider how educational tools should be designed, created, and delivered to learners. This follows a system of assessing needs, designing a process, developing materials, and evaluating their effectiveness. This provides a practical and systematic process for effectively designing effective curricula.
In each week, I learn about the basics of instructional design and how to create high quality learning materials that will effectively and efficiently improve the needs of learners. Lesson plans are intended to engage students, so they’re more likely to achieve their goals. Evaluation is a key final phase of instructional design implementation to ensure that I have been effective in meeting my learning objectives.
