About Ms. Okafor
I’m ms. okafor and welcome to get techie with ann!
I am originally from Sugar Land, Texas and now reside in the west Houston area. I am owned by two cats and love nothing more than to relax and listen to true crime podcasts.
I started teaching in 2015 and have been in love with this profession ever since. I was a high school world history teacher and I worked with English Language Learners. While working as a classroom teacher, incorporating technology into the classroom became a passion of mine. Some might even call me a techie!
Two years ago, I decided to take a risk and flip my traditional classroom into a modern classroom. And it was one of the best decisions I could have made for my students. Due to the specials needs my ELLs have, blended learning allowed me to have more one-to-one time with my students, increased collaboration time between my students, they learned at their own pace, and it encouraged them to come to class prepared.
Today, I am now work as an instructional technology specialist at my campus. I am currently completing my M.Ed in Education Technology Leadership with my principal certification. In our technological world, I believe as an educator and a leader that I need to maximize my own technical knowledge and proficiency. Currently, I am learning to design, implement, and assess tech-based projects, so that I can help other educators integrate a new way of learning within their classroom. To widen my leadership opportunities, I plan to obtain my Ed.D in Educational Technology. I would like to focus more on applied research and practice-oriented curriculum, while learning how to foster institutional change through innovative thinking grounded in theory and research.
