My name is Ann Okafor, and I’m an ELL World History teacher in the Houston area. I am owned by two cats, and I enjoy going to the gym and cooking on my free time. Other than that, I live a simple life.
Before becoming a teacher, I used to work as a financial analyst for a small company. After doing that for about a year, I decided to become a teacher and I haven’t looked back! Although stressful at times, I love being teacher and could not imagine working outside of education. After teaching for several years, one skill that I discovered that I was good at was technology. I love finding new ways to incorporate technology into my classroom.
Because of this passion for technology, I decided to leave the classroom and become our campus’ instructional technology specialist. I was recommended by my evaluator to pursue a degree in education leadership with a focus in technology. I have already hosted several technology professional developments in my district, and I look forward to growing my role in the district. My purpose for pursuing this degree is to become a better leader, discover new pedagogy tools, and to help inspire other teachers to embrace technology in the classroom. My long-term goal is to become a Director of Technology for a school district.
